Sandy sales: American Apparel and Urban Outfitters offer hurricane deals

In the wake of a natural disaster that destroyed homes, cities and lives, retailers are having online sales.

American Apparel, Urban Outfitters and Singer22.com are just some of the stores offering Hurricane Sandy web discounts. Some say the sale is to encourage online shopping as opposed to venturing out to stores in unsafe locations. The companies also said they are promoting discount codes to generate revenue they lost in the storm.

Even small businesses are offering deals. A consignment shop in my area is offering 10 percent off when shoppers use the code “aftermath” today.

But, is this really good taste? Do Americans need to be thinking about buying a Stripe Chiffon Oversized Button-Up right now?
